/ 06 DAY SAIL
SAIL OBAN AND skye
COME and join us - on a skippered yacht in scotland
Join our crew as we explore the stunning West Coast of Scotland – and some of the finest sailing anywhere in the World.
Combine great sailing in sheltered waters with trips ashore to distilleries, fresh seafood restaurants and great local pubs.
Starting and ending in Oban, we will spend six days exploring the stunning sailing grounds of Oban, Skye and the stunning West Coast of Scotland with Gairloch and Portree on the Isle of Skye as highlights.
sailING FROM OBAN
OBAN our home base on the West Coast of Scotland is a great starting point – on the West Highland railway line from Glasgow, almost certainly the most scenic railway journey in the World.
PASSAGE OBAN TO SKYE several options are available; the “inshore” route through the Sound of Mull via Kyle of Lochalsh or the “offshore” route in the Minch, between North Uist and Skye. Decision? The weather will make that for us!
PLOCKTON one of the gems of the West Coast – an often overused phrase but Plockton just has to be experienced.
sailING THE WEST COAST
APPLECROSS another delightful anchorage off a lovely Highland village. Calm conditions are needed for this stop – often ok, sometimes not…
GAIRLOCH we could spend several days exploring the various bays and anchorages of the Gairloch. A popular tourist destination for land based holidaymakers, it is like most places – much better to experience from sea.
sailing TO SKYE
PORTREE the capital of Skye and our entrance to this amazing island. The Cullins not far away, an ideal place to get off the boat and stretch our legs. Anchored in this busy harbour, sundowners are a treat simply watching life go on in these dramatic surroundings.
MALLAIG where the West Highland railway line terminates and travellers have the many options of routes out to the Islands. We have even more options, so a brief stop here to stock up on fresh food before we head off to explore the islands and seas of the West Coast of Scotland.
